Sewn : Thrifted Polka-Dot Dress

Thursday, May 31, 2012

I found this dress at a thrift store in Australia, and fell in love with it.
By the way all you Australians out there, you have no idea how lucky you are. Pigeon Hole Vintage is AMAZING.

Unfortunately the dress was like 10 sizes too big when I first got it, so I had to take it in.

(Excuse the face fail. ha I look a little drunk.)

Overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'm starting to acquire far too many polka-dots in my closet though. ha I'm obsessed!

Crafted : Mother's Day Garland

Sunday, May 13, 2012

I made this garland for my beautiful Mama for Mother's day.
The idea sort of has a back story. When I was little I made a similar one for my mom to thank her for letting me fake sick one day. (She didn't know that of course. Still doesn't.. haha, surprise Mom!)
That garland hung over her bathroom door for years, until the colors faded and the strings fell off. So I decided to make her a new one, filled with new things I love and admire about her.

To make it I just sewed a bunch of paper circles onto a long sewn thread. (If you have a Cricket machine this project would be even easier.) Then I wrote little things I liked and appreciated about her on each of the circles.

Obviously it's not long enough to list all of the many things I am thankful to her for but it's a start.
Thank you mama for loving me, raising me, dealing with my quirks, and for being my best friend.
I love you!
