Colette Pattern Giveaway [Closed]

Friday, May 10, 2013

No sewing project today but I'm giving a shout-out to Kollabora for being the most awesome company ever! Holy, they sent me all of this stuff just because they're awesome like that.

What's the catch? I have no idea, I'm still trying to figure that out myself.. haha but in the mean time I'm not going to ask any questions.

I'm particularly excited about this stuff, though to be honest I have no clue what it's really used for. I mean I know it's an interfacing type thing, but where do you use it exactly? Like what projects are good to use strips of interfacing on? Advanced sewers I need you.

Anyways, all this is not the fun part for you guys obviously, the fun part is that I'm going to send this lovely Colette pattern to one random person who comments. All you have to do is tell me what the coolest thing you have ever gotten for free was. And then extra entry if you tweet, blog, Facebook post about it, etc.
Why am I doing this? Because my biggest pet peeve ever is when blogs talk on and on about all the free stuff they get. It's like really no one cares! ha so to make it up to you guys I'm doing this, because at the same time I could not just not blog about this because it was SUPER nice of Kollabora and I was pumped about it, soo this is my way of making it up to you sort of. :)

And also let's be real, I would have never gotten any of this stuff had it not been for you anyways! ha so thank you for that.
Winner will be announced next Thursday. Good luck everyone!

Oh and PS, sorry to you non-sewers. This is the most boring giveaway ever for you I realize.

  6. I was rummaging through my purse a few years back, and came across one of those receipts that you get with your grocery store receipts...you know, the ones that give you $1.00 off of "Depends" when you buy it with "Preparation H", or the like. :) Anyway, as I pulled it out to throw it away, I happened to glance at it and it said $150.00 worth of FREE GROCERIES!!!! AND...the expiration date on it was a couple of days away. Well, I marched down to the store, and promptly used it. No one at the store had ever seen anything like it. Talk about lucky. And I almost threw it away!

  7. I got tickets to a concert (or my name at the door) from a radio contest. I had signed up for a website and forgot about it and in the middle of my work day they call me and ask a question. I had to answer it correctly to win... A bit absurd, but hey free tickets! And the concert was good :)

  8. I think the coolest thing I've gotten for free was my design wall. A friend was moving and gave me hers :) Free and Useful ;) A great use for heat and bond lite is to gently bond knit hems before sewing them. You can press them super neat with it and it tames them a bit so you get less buckling and stretching while sewing them.

  9. The coolest thing I've ever gotten for free was definitely my sewing machine! It was given to me by my mother, who was given it by HER mother, so it's pretty special to me :)

I've actually always wanted to make this pattern, but thought it might be too difficult as it's 'intermediate', so if I won this would be the perfect opportunity to test my skills!

and the interfacing i've used before as a stabilizer in knits - so like the shoulder seam of a hoodie so they don't stretch out. :D

  15. Thanks for introducing me to Kollabora, I had never heard of it but it looks awesome! I'm definatley going to sign up. Hmmm, best thing I have gotten for free - Sid my cat :D My mum got him for me as an early Christmas present and she got him for free from the local vets as they found him abandoned as a tiny kitten. He loves me to bits and always keeps me company when I'm sewing. xxx

  19. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! I think the best thing I've gotten for free was tickets to the upcoming Mumford and Sons show in Taos, NM. Sadly, its because my friends are moving away and won't be able to attend the show, but I am just so touched by how generous they were to pass the tickets on to me.

  20. The coolest thing that I ever got for free was my sewing machine. I bought it but because it had a slight imperfection they gave it to me free, all I had to pay for was shipping. I also got a whole load of fabric for free and that really was nice because I was able to get started sewing with it. Free stuff is sew sweet. :) Thank you soo much Haylee for hosting this giveaway. It is very generous of you.

  26. The coolest thing I've ever won was when I was really little and I called into a radio contest. I got through (at like 6am) and then my mom had to answer a bunch of questions (kind of like Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader?) and THEN I won a limo ride to school and a free breakfast for me and my friends. I loved it.

  28. This makes me realise I need to win more things more often! My Mum's friend just gifted me all her wooden knitting needles, they are smoothed in that way that only years of use can give them. I haven't knitted with them yet.... Thanks.
