Sewn : Black Polka-Dotted Banksia Top.

Sunday, November 25, 2012

Yes, I made another one.

I'm a little obsessed at the moment. Originally I was going to make the gold-collared dress, but than this sew-along happened and I already had some fabric so I decided to go for it. I'm kicking myself for not doing a contrasting collar though. For some reason I didn't even think about it until I had cut this one out already.
Oh well, this one's growing on me.

My placket sucks so don't look too closely. ha, thankfully the black fabric makes it hard to see.. Kind of? Yay for making Summertime clothes in November! :)

  1. Your banksia turned out lovely and you can make a contrast collar on the next one :) btw, nothing wrong with sewing off season clothing... When summer comes you'll already have a lovely top ready to wear. I'm currently planning an autumn/spring jacket, although our summer has just started and it's really hot :)

  3. That is one nice looking top! It does look quite summery as you already said, but what's wrong with that? Nothing! Great job :)

  5. This is crazy cute! Don't look too close at my placket, either. But it would be TOTALLY WEIRD to stare at someone's placket, anyway, so I'm not super stressed about it. :)

  6. Haylee you did an excellent job on this. A collar, placket, button holes, shirt tail hem, that kind of fabric plus it was lined wasn't it? All very difficult. YOu are getting only better and better and you make me happy to see how well you are doing. You would get an A in my clothing classes!!!

Mostly though I love your hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I adore this shirt! It looks like you just bought it right off the rack - since I have no sewing skills whatsoever, I'm really impressed! And not thinking of making the collar contrasting just gives you an excuse to make another one! ;)

  9. i can see why you're Peter Pan collar obsessed Haylee, it's such a darling look and it's really a wonderful neckline on you with your petite features!! the blouse is amazing, i bet you could whip up a contrasting collar that could be adapted somehow too...snap on, thin velcro layover or something a seamstress would know more about than me. just how it is here is super sweet though, i love your creations!

    happy weekend wishes sweetness!! ♥

  10. Haylee, your blog always makes me super happy and inspired!!! I can't wait to make amazing things like you! :D I think your shirt could look really cool with different buttons or layered with a necklace popping out from under the collar. Just something I thought of when I saw it! :)

  18. Oh this is awesome. I just love it. I think you did the right thing not making a contrasting collar - that may have reduced the flexibility of the top.
