Shabby Apple Dare to Design Contest.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Some of you may remember the last time I entered Shabby Apple's Dare to Design contest. Well I figured I would enter in again this year.

I'm entering in the dress I drafted for senior ball, so I apologize in advance since this post will be a repeat for some of you.. Don't hate me. :)

(Say hi to my friend Natalia! She made her dress too. No I'm not joking you, she's amazing I know.)

The top of the dress would be composed of two layers, first an off-white soft satin for the sweetheart bodice and then a floral lace overlay with cap sleeves. The dress would have a high waist and an exposed gold zipper down the back, with the satin fabric being an underlining for the skirt as well.

And of course it would adhere to Shabby Apple's dress design standards. No cleavage poking out or anything. (That is if I had any cleavage. I'm not too blessed in that area unfortunately.)

Wish me luck!

  6. good for you sweetheart! i do remember the last submish and it was stellar. this one is a dreamy bit of heaven too. i loved that dress from your senior ball, the back detailing and bustier vibe is vintage, chic!!! wishing you all the lucky horseshoes i could toss at once and they're all headed your way! xoox ♥

  7. I am most definitely not haha. I have been teaching myself to sew a little for about a year now.. but i'm nowhere near as talented as you! I focus on elastic when it comes to skirts. Elastic is a god-send.

With the floral skirt i was playing with pleating.. i'd never done it before, and i made the skirt too small initially.. but i think i might make a solid color in a nice cotton? Maybe like a super bright pink haha.

Again, to reiterate my first comment -- you need to win this thing. Lace is always beautiful but i LOVE the gold zipper. You smart cookie you.
