Sewn : Blue Buttercup Dress.

My latest project.

Basically this turned out to be a nightmare of a dress. I finished the entire thing only to realize that the bodice was huuge on me. Ugh.
Apparently it's a really dumb idea to guesstimate your measurements.
Who knew?
Anyways, my options were to either redo the top and pretty much start from the beginning, Or just throw the dress in the trash..
I chose the latter. :)
Luckily my mom had more compassion than I did and persuaded me to give it another chance.
Moral of the story: take accurate measurements !

*I used Newlook 6723 for those that are interested.*

  15. Haylee,
You are ADORABLE. Oh my word. I wish I could sew like you! A few years ago I took classes from a lady in my ward...but it didn’t go so well. I mostly wanted to do it because I got to walk from school to the lady’s house with this really cute boy...haha! And I agree with you about the MGMT song. I love MGMT with all my heart…but the Lady Danville cover is freaking fantastic. I listen to it constantly!
Thanks for the comment on my blog! You’re so nice! :)
    Love, CasiDee
PS: If you ever “mess up” on a dress again…you should send it to me! Haha! :)

  16. What?? You're silly! That dress is amazing!!!!!!! and you're so skinny.. Can I just transfer some of my fat onto you please... There's gotta be an easier way for me to get rid of it!

Did you use a tutorial or a pattern? I love the sweetheart neckline and sleeves.

  17. It still looks wonderful! You are so talented my dear.
And I think you should apply for FIDM! I've taken a campus tour and our tour guide was actually the head of admissions and the unique thing about FIDM is that if you don't qualify, they will work with you until you do qualify. They will direct you in regards to things you need to do before they can accept you. So, if you really want to go, I strongly encourage you to at least apply and see what happens!

  24. I always used to have that problem with my sewing (finishing a garment to find that the fit is SO wrong) until my dear boyfriend bought me a dressform for Christmas! It's made the whole process much easier, and me much less sewing-accident prone!
